Grinch Cake for Christmas # Christmas #Brownies

Do you see a cake in the shape of a cute little cake it? I think they are adorable. The first one I've seen is this Peekaboo pumpkin pound cake by Sheknows. I know I have to try and make one. Later, the times got off me and I forgot about it. Well, when I was talking with a friend the other day, I cried  "Grinch cake! " he said, "what?  " Then I explained and he liked the idea.

I go home and make one soon but, apparently not wanting to. You see, I follow the recipe from one of those famous Food Network but to no avail. It was sad. The cake tasted great but for some reason, it just didn't look right.

So I went to the store and bought two boxes of cake mix pound and it should work. I'm glad I did because it was the way to go. Yap. Mix cake boxes make things super easy.

If you are looking for a dessert for Christmas and don't want to spend a lot of time on it, this is the cake for you. You don't have to be Grinch for making or eating cakes Grinch. Just Take a spoon and start mixing.

  • Materials
  •  2 boxes of Pound cake mix (whatever material the box calls for)
  •  Heart Cookie Cutter
  •  Gel food colors red and green
  •  Bread pan
  •  Green and yellow Frosting (blue and green Pillsbury Funfetti Frosting)
  •  Red heart sprinkles-optional

Instructions

  1. Mix the cake mix box pounds following the directions on the box.
  2. Add a few drops of Red food coloring at a time until you get the red color that you like.
  3.  I use Wilton's "No-Taste Red " because it didn't taste like red food coloring. Just does not feel that it was perfect for this cake.
  4.  After the cake is baked, let cool and then cut the cake slices even.
  5.  Then, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out as much heart as much as it takes to put it upfront from the pot to the other end. Make sure it fits, but left the room at each end for green cake mixture.
  6.  The second cake mix and add some green food coloring.
  7.  Pour the Green dough around cutouts of the heart.
  8.  Tap the pan on the counter so that the batter will fall down the sides of the heart.
  9.  Bake according to package directions.
  10.  Next, frost the cake with green frosting and add some sprinkles of the heart.
